Most Effective Means of Communication

Life on Earth for all organisms is spent attempting to delivery an idea or message. The means of communication changes across species and age, but the objective remains the same: being understood to survive. In humans's case, the strongest means of communication seem to be visual and audio.

While keeping in mind many's lack of an attention span, audio and visual communication seem as the best means of communication. Information is often retained better when it's heard compared to read for many, and this is why a spike in podcasts is prevalent. In the modern age many people would rather listen to an interview's audio rather than read the transcripts. The broth of what is being communicated is watered down when the tone and rhythm are missing. Reading a Dave Chappelle joke compared to hearing one is two different experiences, because the joke is in the delivery through tone and pace. The rhetoric added in audio communication is the spine cabinet of communication. It is where all of the fun and personality comes out, which is often time critical to understand when attempting to receive what is being communicated.

Visual communication looks more like is logos and informational how-to's more so than long written text. Any optics associated with message. A stop sign is a visual for people because of the distinct size, shape and color of the sign and the text. The color and shape can do more than just alert they can also evoke an emotion and are such strong forms of communication they can bring a room to life and give it the ability to be experienced how it was intended. The form of communication that can give an inanimate object the opportunity to express itself is a powerful one.

A couple of companies executing using visual communication are Apple and McDonald's. An apple and a golden capital "M" seem like such simple ideas, but that's why they're so successful. These are visuals so strong that any spinoff, whether in television shows, movies, or fashion, is so clearly a nod to their brand.
Another strong brand benefitting from visual communication is Google. Their ability to capitalize off of a short, recognizable brand name, that can be abbreviated to an equally recognizable logo is parrell to Apple and McDonald's.

Someone's who's brand has been built on strong visuals and should have a case study done about it is Shaquille O'Neal. The association between the way the name "Shaq" sits on paper and is read aloud, and the visual of Shaq himself whether on television or in person is all so perfectly absurd as his personality. The association of all of these needs a study done on it.

Cohesion and consistency go along way when attempting to get across a message. A clear visual and explicit audio tend to be what sticks in people's minds and is most easily remembered. Rhetoric can properly be added to visual and audio communication which make them more effective in delivering a message.
